I’m sure that most of you are familiar with the fable about the boy who cried wolf and the lesson taught that says that people will not listen to you when you falsely call for help when no real help is needed. Ultimately the boy is killed because when he really needed help no one came to his rescue. I only bring this up because, lately, there is a whole lot of rhetoric and false wisdom being spread that says that “Judgment Day” is near. In fact these dreamers and spiritually discerned puppets have actually pinpointed a date for the return of Jesus. It’s true, according to this, dare I say; “movement”; May 21st 2011 is “Judgment Day”. Apparently the leader of this self proclaimed prophetic sect has figured God out and has the mathematical formula that identifies this date and time. Mind you that the very same guy also made similar predictions about “Judgment Day” back in 1994. Apparently he forgot to carry over a number here and there and misplaced a decimal point or two in the process. Please forgive my sarcasm and bear with me because the truth of the matter is that many souls are at stake because of such dangerous and erroneous philosophies. The fact that this man is able to garner support and a significant following is alarming and shows how desperate people are to belong. Now I’m not making excuses for those that allow themselves to be bushwhacked and bamboozled into such hogwash, but I am saying that we, as Christians, need to be more effective in holding out the true light and true hope so that those that are in need are brought to the truth, that can only be found in Christ. We must be more loving, available, approachable, kind, patient and humble. We must learn to be better fishers of souls and remember that we too were once lost and without hope in this world. In no way am I suggesting that we withhold the truth or water it down in order to draw men to Christ; that would do neither the hearer nor yourselves any good. I am suggesting that we be more tolerant and understanding because we know that no man can grasp what God has in store for them or what God expects from them, if they are without the spirit. Keep in mind that we are only the bait that draws men near to God and God is the only one who can save those that submit to Him.

With that said, let us not get too caught up into the nonsense of so-called prophets that claim to have decoded God’s plans. Let our focus be on doing the things that God commands us to do; seeking righteousness and spreading the fragrant aroma of the Christ through the gospel and so forth. We have enough to do in trying to attain the promise of salvation, without getting caught up in the futility of men that think that analyzing God’s mathematical inclinations is more important than obeying His words. Remember what happened to “The boy who cried wolf”? Pray for these souls that misguidedly cry Judgment Day!

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Matthew 24:26

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mark 13:32

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. Acts 1:7

for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. Thessalonians 5:2-4

“But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Luke 12:39-40

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 2 Peter 3:10

you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 13:12
