We know that we have come to know Him if we keep His commands. Whoever says, “I know Him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys His word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:3-6
How did Jesus live? He lived for, by, and through God’s power given in the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to share God’s Word with all mankind, that we might be saved if we believed His message. Jesus was crucified because He did not go along with the religious protocol of man, and instead He preached relationship with God through Him; the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). Jesus wasn’t this “nice” person who got along with everyone for the sake of “peace” on earth (see Matthew 10:34-39). On the contrary; Jesus was willing to subject Himself to man’s punishment for the sake of Salvation and peace with God. Jesus was persecuted, wrongly accused, insulted, humiliated, mocked, doubted, rejected by His own, betrayed and hated because He spoke and stood by the Word of God, despite the opposition. Had Jesus not boldly and fearlessly spoke what He believed because He feared offending others, the world would embrace Him and remember Him as being nice, and everyone would love the name of Jesus Christ.
“Nice” gains the approval of man. Faith gains the approval of God. How you living?
