We cannot continue to give God small sacrifices of our lives and our time, as if serving God was our part-time job or weekend hobby. If we are truly Christians, we know that our sole purpose is to give God our lives, just as He gave the life of His Son for us. Think about this: There are 168 hours in a week and many of us only give God a mere 2-4 hours of our “busy lives” and for that abysmal sacrifice we expect Him to reward us with favor and Salvation. Look at it this way; If you were the boss or the person of authority at your place of employment and you had an employee that put forth such minimal effort toward their responsibility, would you reward such effort? The call or the job description is to be Servants of God, and what we serve is the Gospel of Jesus Christ(God’s Word). It is only through grace and the life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ that man can be saved (John 14:6, Eph. 2:8). We are Ministers of Reconciliation and Ambassadors of Heaven (2 Corinthians 5:18-20) and by sharing/serving God’s Word and testimony (see Matthew 3:16-17) we offer the opportunity of eternal life to those lost in darkness. The first step to being a Servant of God is to humbly seek the gift of grace and acknowledge that we don’t know Him as we should. Confess your sins, insecurities and fears to Him for He truly does care for you ( 1 Peter 5:6-7). Besides, He already knows what you need and is waiting for you to lose your pride, and come to Him contrite and broken. Then you will develop an intimate relationship with Him. You will learn His ways and begin to trust Him with your life. The wisdom, knowledge and understanding, that can ONLY be found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, will become you food and strength. God will open your eyes so that you see things from where He sits on high. You will fall deeply in love with God, and you will thirst for divine insight and revelation. You will appreciate the depth of God’s love for us and you will know the wrath that all creation bears. Then you will become a willing servant who truly understands what the love of Jesus Christ is.
Love for God is sacrificing yourself in service to God and sharing the amazing, indescribable love of God with the world. God’s Word and spirit will flow through your soul like a river and then you will be qualified, approved Servant of GOD.
Think about the last time you went out to dine at a restaurant. Did you receive good service? What would you think if your Server didn’t know the menu very well and didn’t know what the “Chef’s Special” was? The Servers knowledge of that menu reflects their dedication and commitment to service. It is the same with get being a Servant of God, you can’t effectively serve what you don’t understand and the consequence is that you could get FIRED…
Many are called, the chosen are few (Matthew 22:14).
“How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” 1 Kings 18:21
No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. Matthew 6:24
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. 1 Corinthians 10:21
So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:16
The LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 6:15
