Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
God gave His only begotten Son so that you could have life to the fullness and all He asks in return is that you appreciate His love sacrifice and return His love by sacrificing “all” that you have in this world. It is foolish to believe that we can give God weak sacrifices such as religious routines and traditional acts of self righteousness as repayment for the undeserved, inexplicable gift of grace that we’ve been offered in Christ Jesus. Scripture teaches us that God has never been pleased with the less than worthy sacrifices man has continually offered Him. Malachi 1:6-8 speaks to this matter: “This is what the LORD of Armies says: A son honors his father, and a servant honors his master. So if I am a father, where is my honor? If I am a master, where is my respect? You priests despise my name. “But you ask, ‘How have we despised your name?’ “You offer contaminated food on my altar. “But you ask, ‘Then how have we contaminated you?’ “When you say that the LORD’s table may be despised. When you bring a blind animal to sacrifice, isn’t that wrong? When you bring a lame or a sick animal, isn’t that wrong? Try offering it to your governor. Would he accept it from you? Would he welcome you?” Obviously we no longer offer sacrificial animals or anything created in return for God’s mercy and grace; it is you that God wants, and when you think about it, it is a great deal He’s offering. Your life, which is composed of people, places and things that are prone to change perishing (yourself included) and destined to encounter the wrath of God. Eternal life, which offers the indescribable, overwhelming, and unchanging love of God forever. And if that’s not enough; all of the things that you love in this life were created by God, so imagine how glorious and amazing Heaven will be. I cannot imagine who or what would keep anyone from hopping on this truly amazing opportunity, other than not believing that God is real.
The bottom line is this; faith means trust and believing that God will do everything that He has promised to do for those who are willing to give their all in order to get His all.
Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:29
